Facing the Giant: Seeing Through God’s Eyes

Every time an enemy approaches, his first weapon is not a sword — it’s intimidation. The enemy’s goal is to scare you long before he even touches you.

Think about Goliath. Before the battle began, he didn’t swing his sword or hurl his spear. He simply stood there — tall, terrifying, and loud — presenting himself as someone mightier than anyone in Israel. His strategy wasn’t physical at first; it was psychological. He wanted to project one thought into the hearts of God’s people: “I am bigger than you.” And that’s still how the enemy works today.

Whenever he whispers, “You’re not enough… you’re too small… you don’t have what it takes,” what he’s really saying is, “I’m greater than you.”Every storm, every challenge, every “giant” comes with the same agenda — to convince you that you’re powerless and that defeat is inevitable. But here’s the truth: the enemy’s biggest lie is his own denial of defeat.

1. Never See Yourself Through Your Own Eyes

Remember Gideon? When God called him a mighty warrior, Gideon couldn’t believe it. In his own eyes, he was small, weak, and unqualified. But God didn’t see Gideon the way Gideon saw himself. So the first step in facing any giant is this: stop viewing yourself through your own eyes. Start viewing yourself through God’s eyes. How God sees you is your truest identity. What you feel about yourself may change with circumstances, but what God declares about you is eternal. You are not defined by your fear — you are defined by His faithfulness.

2. See Your Enemy Through God’s Eyes

We often see our enemies through the lies they tell about themselves. That’s why they look so big, so intimidating. But what if you could see your enemy through the eyes of God? When God looks at your opposition, does He tremble? No — He laughs. The power of the enemy is not determined by the size of the problem, but by the size of your God. No enemy is greater than Him. When you begin to see from that perspective, fear loses its grip.

3. Never Believe What the Enemy Says or Shows

The enemy’s greatest weapon is not force — it’s deception. He hijacks your sight, your hearing, your imagination, and fills it with his own narrative. The more you listen to his voice, the more convincing it becomes. The more you believe it, the more it shapes your reality.David heard Goliath’s taunts, but he didn’t listen to them. He didn’t internalize the lies. He knew exactly what they were — noise, not truth.Meanwhile, Saul and his entire army did listen. And because of that, they froze in fear at the sound of one man’s voice.Be careful what voice you give authority to. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God — but fear also comes by hearing the lies of the enemy.

4. Your Size Doesn’t Matter in the Battle

When David killed Goliath, he didn’t need a sword bigger than Goliath’s. He only needed a stone that fit perfectly in his hand. It seemed too small, too insignificant to bring victory. But in the right hands, that small stone became a nation’s breakthrough. It’s not your size that wins the battle — it’s whose hands you’re in. A small thing in the hands of God can change the course of history. So never underestimate what seems little — your prayer, your faith, your obedience — when it’s surrendered to Him.

5. Remember Who Is With You, Not Who Is Against You

In moments of crisis, our focus naturally shifts to what’s standing against us. Trouble looks bigger because we keep staring at it.But whatever you focus on grows. When the Syrian army surrounded Elisha’s house, his servant panicked at the sight of the enemy. But Elisha prayed, “Lord, open his eyes.” Suddenly, the servant saw a greater army — God’s army — surrounding them.

The difference wasn’t in the circumstance, but in vision. Your victory begins when your focus shifts — not on the problem, but on the presence of God who stands with you.

6. Who Is Bigger?

Everything began with God, and everything exists under His creation. That means every problem, every power, even Lucifer himself, is still smaller than the One who created all things.

The enemy may roar like a lion, but he is not the Lion. He is just a small part of a vast creation.

So, who is bigger? The Creator who holds the universe in His hands.

That’s your strength.

That’s your hope.

That’s your victory.

That’s your weapon.

When you know who is with you, the size of your enemy no longer matters. Because no enemy can ever outgrow your God.
